Taking back the table.

I've taken an extremely long hiatus from sewing. Out of necessity, not voluntarily.
I'm happy to report that after 7 weeks ( 7 weeks!! No wonder I was getting shaky and irritible)
I've taken back the table:

We needed it clear so that people could sit at the table, and enjoy nice gourmet meals during the holidays.

I decided to use this: See & Sew 85801 as inspiration.
But you'll see in the end, it doesn't look like it at all.

I want to start using knits more. I am often intimidated by knit fabric, and I haven't
found an assembly system I like. I've used a zig-zag stitch, stretch stitch, walking foot.
I've got a serger too!

I haven't liked any of the final results, and I've messed up more than once when trying to
just use the serger.
Instead, what I did, was just sew the pieces together with a regular ole straight stitch with
a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Then took it over to the serger.
I don't know why I never did this before! I mean, DUH!

When serging I used the seam line as a guide, so when it was all said and done, there would
be a 5/8 inch seam allowance in the end.

See? Look how nice inside.

There is no v-neck, or cross over neck here, I've found that style opens up too much for my little one.
I added a neck band, and left the sleeve hems, and hem just serged for now.

ETA-I hemmed all the hems!
