Fingerless Mitts~FO!

Finally able to post the finished fingerless mitts:

Original post HERE.
and I'm pretty sure in my rush for daylight, one of them is inside-out
Dang you garter stitch!

They're toasty, while still giving me freedom to type or sew, or knit.

DD have even asked for a pair. Lucky for her they are quick, and that she has tiny wrists.

Treadle Singer 15-30, or just Rose.

I'm a lucky girl to have inherited my great grandmother-in-law's sewing machine.

Rose

It's a Singer Model 15-30, treadle. Made in 1918.
It has a broken upper tension spring, which I already ordered, so I'm patiently waiting to try out her stitches. I ordered springs from here: Sew Classic.
In the mean time, I'm cleaning it up really well, and oiling like crazy.
Lucky for me I happened to have an extra belt, so I hooked that up right away also.

This is my first treadle so I've been watching "Treadle" videos, and trying to learn any little tricks.
Here's a sample of stitches after I put the spring in:

I was literally saying, "Wheeeeeeeeeeee" as I was going. It was so fun. This is my straight stitch foot, feed dogs are up, (I don't think I have a choice there) and just going along.
This is the longest stitch length. I couldn't believe how tiny I could get the stitches either. Pretty amazing. There are some loopy stitches every so often, so I'll finish cleaning, ( a thorough job too )
and I can't wait to see the quality once it's all done.

Fingerless Mitts

Autumn is here, and when the temperature starts to drop a few degrees, I'm ready for sweaters, and scarves.
I get cold fast, especially my hands. So if I'm sitting on the computer, or sewing, my fingers are like ice!
What better time to knit up some mitts.
I'm using Rowan Little Big Wool, in a dusty pink. Since its chunky, it's going quick. Size 10 (6mm) needles.
The pattern is: Garter Mitts by: Jessica Kaufman  Free download if you're on Ravelry.

It's basically rows of garter stitch that will run vertical with your arm.

In either pic, you see it looks like the start of a scarf the way the stitches run. One mitt took me a couple hours, and wouldn't you know, we've run into a heat spell now.

(This yarn is nice and soft. Totally not itchy. I might need a matching hat? A cowl?)

Anyway, I'm half-way ready when it gets cold again.
